Spread the sparkle
On Christmas Day, 2014, I answered an ad in New York City by a woman who was asking for leftover food for her Christmas meal. I brought her pumpkin bread, eggs, pork roast and a winter coat and some blankets. When we met, she fell into my arms and cried. I held her for a long time. I was the only one who answered her ad, she told me. I got back to the car and texted my friend Abbey, who donated many of the items I brought, and told her I had just seen God. In that moment, Spread the Sparkle was born. Spread the Sparkle has been hosting holiday parties for people who wouldn’t otherwise have a holiday ever since. We are now an official 501c3 non-profit agency.
